Corporate Events
Looking for something different to do for a work celebration? Looking for an enjoyable teamwork exercise?
I can deliver tasting events as straight "socials", or they can be focused much more towards teambuilding exercises.
In addition to my experience running tastings and events for clients such as the MOD and Ernst and Young, I have several years experience in commercial training which includes running a variety of non-wine training events including icebreakers, team exercises etc.
Wine Games
Fancy something a bit different to a "straight" wine tasting?
Various games and events are possible, some are as follows:
Guided blind tasting: after a quick briefing teams have to undertake a blind tasting. They are given crib sheets of information to assist their choices. Usually they will be given a list of wines and have to match those they are tasting
Options: A wine is tasted blind, and the group are asked a serious of questions, such as "Is this wine from the New World or Old World", "Is this wine 2 years old or 5 years old?". As each question is asked, the group must make a decision and (if open space is available) stand on one side of the room or other according to their answer. The incorrect group must sit down, and the number of participants steadily shrinks until a winner is found. Clues can be given as necessary to make it a test of palate and not of existing wine knowledge. This would usually be played several times, and probably works best combined with other activities.
Call My Bluff: Like the panel game. One group is given a wine to taste, and the other gives 3 different identifications and descriptions of the wine. The first team to decide who is telling the truth.
Blend Your Own Wine: Teams are given 3 bottles of wine with clear characteristics, plus a measuring vessel and an empty bottle. With guidance from myself and referring to crib sheets, they must come up with a blend of their own. The blended wines are then blind-tasted and voted upon.
